Leah Shutkever Takes On The Royal Banquet

It’s a huge challenge to consume the mountain of food that is the Royal Banquet within the 45-minute time limit. But when Leah Shutkever walked through the doors to our Solihull restaurant, we knew we could be about to witness Wing Kingz history. With over 40 Guinness World Records to her name, Shutkever (AKA ‘The Shuts’) has spent the last seven years taking down some of the toughest food eating challenges in the UK and showcasing her triumphs on her YouTube channel. What Is The Royal Banquet?

Following the headline-making Earn Your Wingz hot wing challenge, Wing Kingz’ second eating challenge, the Royal Banquet, has quickly become one of the most talked about food challenges in the UK. Those looking to take it on will need to finish a whopping seven menu items in just 45 minutes. That includes:

  • 20 Grilled Wings
  • The Queen Bee burger
  • Buttermilk Fried Chicken wrap
  • Cheese & Chive Loaded Fries
  • Cheesy Garlic Bread
  • Onion Rings

How Did Leah Shutkever Get On?

Now that you understand the ins and outs of the Royal Banquet let’s find out how professional eater Leah Shutkever got on. Despite taking down many of the toughest food challenges the UK has to offer, she’d have to be on her A-game to conquer the Royal Banquet.

The Early Stages

As our team carried out basket after basket of food, the Royal Banquet began to look too much, even for the record-holding Shutkever. The table in front of her began to disappear beneath a mountain of food, and the restaurant went quiet with anticipation. After introducing the challenge, The Shuts started the clock and began her feast with the Queen Bee burger. “Phenomenal!” She said after her first bite. Even with this enormous amount of food, you can rely on Wing Kingz for some serious flavour. After a few huge bites, Shutkever took down the Queen Bee burger in just under 1 minute!

She was off to a flying start and kept the momentum going with her first basket of grilled wings. Her years of experience were evident as she showed us the technique she uses to eat chicken wings as quickly as possible. She’d break up the wings with a few onion rings, giving her less to get through later on in the challenge. Those behind the camera looked on in awe as she breezed through the first set of wings with just 3 minutes 30 seconds on the clock.

The Halfway Slump

“Let’s get through some of the breadier, harder things to eat.” She says as she moves on to the cheesy garlic bread, loaded fries, and nachos. Those in the professional eating industry will tell you these carb-heavy foods are the toughest part of any eating challenge. Bread and fries will fill you up quicker than most foods, so Shutkever aimed to tackle these items early on in her challenge. To help her get through the mountain of fries, she made a loaded fries sandwich with two slices of cheesy garlic bread. For the next 10 minutes, she worked her way through the cheesy garlic bread, cheese and chive loaded fries, nachos, and onion rings.

Now well over halfway through her food, Shutkever noted the tense atmosphere in the restaurant. “Everyone is so quiet in here; I can feel the tension in the air!’ She comments before moving on to her second set of 10 wings.

The End Game

With just 20 minutes on the clock, The Shuts tucked into the last of her Royal Banquet baskets- the buttermilk fried chicken wrap. She polished off the last of her loaded fries and the remainder of the wrap before stopping the clock at a staggering 24 minutes and 52 seconds! She had smashed the challenge out of the park and had truly earned her spot on the Wing Kingz wall of fame. Check out the full challenge below:
